Bostik – Flooring in Healthcare

Technical advice and quality subfloor preparation products and flooring adhesives from Bostik are said to have enabled the progress of the new hospital building.

Built to address capacity and demand issues, the new 15000sq m Lagan Valley Hospital Theatres. A 2-storey hospital extension provided two additional operating theatres with ancillary accommodation and recovery beds.

CB Contracts was employed to install Targett vinyl and anti-static flooring throughout the building.

With time at a premium and many companies operating with reduced capacity, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Robert Kirks turned to Bostik for product recommendations and technical advice.

Once contacted by CB Contracts and Robert Kirks, Bostik’s technical team visited the site, carrying out moisture testing on the subfloors of the new building while adhering to government guidelines on social distancing.

The team then compiled a report for CB Contracts that outlined a methodology and system of products for how best to tackle the job.

Based on Bostik’s recommendations, CB Contracts installed the floorcoverings using various Bostik products, each meeting the specific demands of the project. To suppress the residual moisture in the subfloor, they used Screedmaster One Coat Membrane .

They primed most of the subfloors and the DPM using Bostik Grip A936, before applying the high-flow, easy-trowelling Screedmaster Flow smoothing compound. As Bostik Screedmaster Flow is totally protein and casein free, it’s suitable for use in biologically sensitive areas, while the low odour formulation also makes it ideal for use in occupied buildings.’

For the skirting in the ward block, CB Contracts used Bostik N520 Contact adhesive, other products used on site included Bostik Fix A320 Tackifier for a number of large office areas where carpet tile was used. They also used Bostik Reno A920 rapid repair mortar and high build screed to repair damaged steps and fill trenches.
